Still not sure?

For those of you who have read this material and you’re still uncertain about all this:

Maybe you’re where I have been. Living a life that wasn’t changing me as a believer. You’re living a futile, faithless and powerless existence, still wondering what it all means, still looking for a better way.

Think honestly about your own life up to now. There may be lots of heavy “baggage” that you’ve carried for a long time, such as injustices or abuse you faced, or unhealthy relationships or attachments that you can’t seem to end. The list is endless. Your past is as unique as you are. For most if not all of us, some of these things are rooted very deep inside, springing up from a lifelong identity that is false, from self talk that has lied to you for so long. You know, It’s easy to just gloss over it all with religion, good morals, or good outward behavior, and to gravitate to the notion that you’re supposed to focus on fixing all of your bad stuff while doing good stuff to prove that you’re actually a “good person.” False religious teachings want to keep you focused on external appearances and behavior rather than dealing with your heart from which all deceit flows. The great deception is that you need to fix yourself. This is a deadly distraction designed to keep you in your past, from really following Jesus.

So with no forcing or manipulating, He simply asks you over and over to follow Him, to sit at His feet, and just say goodbye to your past – good or bad – and goodbye to putting band-aids on the wounds. Goodbye to that false identity and pretending. Frankly, we’re all imperfect, dusty “jars of clay” with stains and cracks. Yet, into these broken vessels of ours God longs to pour the fullness of Himself, here and now. Truth flowing into us. Cups running over with joy. The Light of Life glowing within. Divine strength empowered by our weakness. Our hearts – and even our mortal flesh – imbued with the life and Spirit of Christ.

Yes, He’s waiting for you to experience a victory that He has claimed and prepared for you, the abundant and redeemed life. To give up living as the walking dead, and embrace His Truth about who you are as a living, new creation! He’ll breathe life back into your spirit and will revive you again, out of the grave.

When I understood this, it was a life-changer. But it was late in life for me. Just A few years ago I went through a very difficult ordeal, and through that difficult time I finally made a choice to follow Jesus in discipleship for the first time. I had been a believer for most of my life but until this ordeal I had not made the decision to really follow Him. I was finally ready to say goodbye to my past and say hello to Jesus and all that He offers. The mystery became clear to me, out in the open, and I wanted it. And I found that Jesus wanted me too!

This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone…to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That’s what I’m working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me.
– Apostle Paul to the believers in Colossae (Colossians 1:26-29, The Message Bible)

So friend, that mystery, the rich and glorious secret, is out in the open for you. You now have the key. You now know that the victorious, redeemed and fulfilled life is waiting for you. True freedom. From goodbye to HELLO!

If you still haven’t made the choice to follow Jesus, maybe just take that first step and He’ll meet you there! Just one small prayer to a friend named Jesus. In your own words. What can it hurt? If you still have questions, that’s fantastic. We’re here for you. Anytime, anywhere, just shoot us an email at Get in touch! Whatever the case, we pray that you’ll continue to keep an open heart.
